Síle Englert

Síle Englert is a queer, Autistic writer and multi-disciplinary artist who dabbles in everything from fibre arts and animation to tattoo design and collage. She is the author of two chapbooks: The Phobic’s Handbook (Anstruther Press, 2020) and Threadbare (Baseline Press, 2019). Síle’s first full-length poetry collection, The Lost Time Accidents, is forthcoming with icehouse poetry (Goose Lane Editions) in October, 2021.
“I created each of these digital collages as part of a series, to respond to and complement some of my poems from The Lost Time Accidents. It felt like a natural progression, because I think a poem and a collage are very similar creatures. I collect raw materials and create something moving, by putting them together in a way no one else has. I shift things around and reposition, experimenting until it feels right. And just as a poem is made up of a multitude of things I’ve gathered over a lifetime, sometimes even bits and pieces of other people’s stories, I constructed these collages by combining my own work with art and photographs that have been made available for use by artists, museums and public domain rights. These pieces are a collaboration, not only with myself from another medium, but with countless others.”
