Nisha Patel is the Poet Laureate Emeritus of the City of Edmonton. An award-winning disabled queer spoken word poet & multimedia artist, she is a Canadian Poetry Slam Champion and holds an MA in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University. Her debut poetry collection, Coconut (NeWest Press), and her last chapbook, Not a Disorder (Gap Riot Press), are out now, with more disability art forthcoming. She is currently finishing her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, where she focuses on disability advocacy through graphic medicine and comics.
Bree Taylor is a writer and poet living on Treaty Six Territory. She is currently pursuing her BA at the University of Alberta, where she has won the L. June Kelly Prize in Introductory Poetry. Her fiction has appeared in Liminal Space: A Debut Student Anthology, and her poetry has appeared in 3 Moon Magazine, C&P Quarterly, Funicular, and the Celestial/Bodies anthology. In 2022, she was a finalist for the Dell Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Science Fiction and Fantasy Writing.
