“Mondrian Blind is a series of three works that invoke the geometric paintings of Modern Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, placing the late artist’s work in conversation with topics of access and inclusion in fine art. With the addition of protest slogan-like phrases (such as ‘Existence is Resistance’ and ‘Blind Artists Matter’) translated into visual depictions of Braille, the works responds to ableism and exclusion in fine art and call the viewer to challenge their perceptions and definitions of ‘fine art.’ Mondrian Blind first appeared in an exhibition curated by Maeshelle West-Davies.”
